Renée Ahdieh - The Rose & the Dagger (The Wrath and the Dawn #2)

“The best way to go about flying is to cut the strings tying you down... Cut the strings, Shazi. Fly."

The much anticipated sequel to the breathtaking The Wrath and the Dawn, lauded by Publishers Weekly as "a potent page-turner of intrigue and romance."

I am surrounded on all sides by a desert. A guest, in a prison of sand and sun. My family is here. And I do not know whom I can trust.

In a land on the brink of war, Shahrzad has been torn from the love of her husband Khalid, the Caliph of Khorasan. She once believed him a monster, but his secrets revealed a man tormented by guilt and a powerful curse—one that might keep them apart forever. Reunited with her family, who have taken refuge with enemies of Khalid, and Tariq, her childhood sweetheart, she should be happy. But Tariq now commands forces set on destroying Khalid's empire. Shahrzad is almost a prisoner caught between loyalties to people she loves. But she refuses to be a pawn and devises a plan.

While her father, Jahandar, continues to play with magical forces he doesn't yet understand, Shahrzad tries to uncover powers that may lie dormant within her. With the help of a tattered old carpet and a tempestuous but sage young man, Shahrzad will attempt to break the curse and reunite with her one true love.

Kiera Cass - The Crown (The Selection #5)

"Love is as much fate as it is planning, as much a beauty as it is a disaster."

When Eadlyn became the first princess of Illéa to hold her own Selection, she didn’t think she would fall in love with any of her thirty-five suitors. She spent the first few weeks of the competition counting down the days until she could send them all home. But as events at the palace force Eadlyn even further into the spotlight, she realizes that she might not be content remaining alone.

Eadlyn still isn’t sure she’ll find the fairytale ending her parents did twenty years ago. But sometimes the heart has a way of surprising you…and soon Eadlyn must make a choice that feels more impossible—and more important—than she ever imagined.

The Ten Book Tag Challenge

I was tagged by Dash @ The Swashbuckler and I'm really, really excited because it's been so long since I did one! Without further ado, here goes!

The rules:

List 10 books that have stayed with you in some way.
Do not take more than a few minutes and do not think too hard.
They do not have to be the “right” books or great works of literature,
just ones that have affected you in some way.
Paste these instructions and tag 10 friends, including me, so I can see your list.

Books I Loved as a Child

I know this may seem like a stupid post (I know, okay?) but I've been wanting to do this for SO LONG. I have no idea why, but I always get very nostalgic when I think of these books. Way back, I was a H-U-G-E bookworm (more than I am now, I mean. Like, uni gets in the way a lot now, you know?) and I have so many favorite series which I'm not ashamed to say I still love reading when I feel like it (Okay, that was a tad bit embarrassing considering these books are children's books I'm talking about). Anyway, without further ado, here goes!
